10 Ways to Avoid Speeding Tickets

Greetings Friends~

That was the headline that caught my eye when I was surfing the web recently. Wow, wow, wow. I'd better read this. I'd better find out all the ways to avoid a speeding ticket. This could be a really useful.

Then...............one of the many little voices in my head said..."STOP! Don't click on that link. You already know how to avoid a speeding ticket. DON'T SPEED!"

"Myself", I replied, "I know I can avoid it if I don't speed, but I want to know how to get away with it when I do speed".

I literally want to have my cake (German Chocolate with Vanilla ice cream) and eat it too. Am I alone here? I hate to make huge generalizations but haven't we become a society so filled with desire for immediate gratification that we ignore the consequences? Damn the torpedos, full speed ahead! We don't want to give up the gratification so we look for all the ways that we can avoid the results of the behavior.

I have a dream and this shouldn't surprise a single soul that really, truly knows me. My dream is that a group of Nobel prize worthy scientists develop a pill that I can take everyday that will allow me to eat whatever I want, whenever I want and as much as I want. All of this while I continue to lose weight and get buff without the benefit of exercise or healthy living.

Good luck on that one, Chip. That's not a dream, Amigo, that's what my mental health provider calls a "fantasy".

Reality is, I have to be vigilant about my food and activity choices. I have to make this a habit. I have to understand that if I am going to "do the crime then I gotta do the time". In this particular situation, if I eat that plate of lasagna and garlic bread, there is going to be a consequence.

That consequence is that Bruce is going to "kick my ass" on next weeks results....errr...scratch that... I don't really think that way...honest. The consequence is that it's two steps back for me. It's going to elevate my blood sugar. It's going to keep me that much farther from my goal.

Smalls steps are the key to my success and those steps should be getting me somewhere...they should account for some progress, no matter how small.

Once again, my small step for this week is to exercise today.

I know that we are ALL busy, busy, busy, in our daily lives. Just remember that there should always be time to devote to our OWN health, success and personal well being.

Eating Right

When eating a salad, have the dressing on the side, and then dip your fork into the dressing before putting the salad on it. You will get the taste of dressing in each bite and save yourself some calories.

Happy Trails!

My favorite part of sharing this journey with all of you is seeing your successes. My second favorite is laughing WITH you about your attempts. It reminds me that we're human and we all make mistakes or bad choices. The fact that we can laugh at them (together even) means there is hope on the horizon.
