Is there light at the end of the tunnel or is that a train barreling towards me?

Greetings Friends~

Let's all welcome our newest member Ladelle to the group. We are glad to have you join us on the journey.

We now have a week or two under our belts and I hope that you are beginning to feel that there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Progress comes in varying degrees...but progress IS progress...so don't lessen the importance of what you are accomplishing with negative thoughts.

Previously, I disliked Mondays. Eww, back to work, back to the grind, guilt about everything I should have done over the weekend and didn't. Monday's were at the bottom of my favorite day list.

Not anymore Friends. Now I can hardly wait for the weekend to be over so I can do that weigh in Monday morning at Group Health. I now have something to look forward to on Mondays. I was thinking that the weigh in is probably the only good thing about Mondays but then I realized that this isn't true. I get to see friends whom I haven's seen for a few days, get to hear from each of you about your progress, and now I get to look forward to some kind of activity after work will that will nudge me a little farther thru the tunnel.

Some days are harder for me than others. Must be stress. Could be boredom. Probably is depression. I am lucky because I have friends in my life that help me through the day (or weekend). You probably do as well. So if you're feeling like you need something to brighten your day, consider a walk with a friend or family member. It is an excellent way to decompress from life's burdens as you walk and talk. Not only do you get some exercise but at the same time you may help yourself and someone else feel better about themselves.

Keep up the good work. I will send out the weekly results in tomorrow's post. I hope that you are as excited about seeing the group's progress as I am!

As an added incentive to you Travelers, next week someone's efforts will be rewarded with a 5 pound bag of frozen blue berries from Black River Blues. Get going now so you can lead the pack!

Shopping Tip of the Day

Fred Meyer has Fuji apples for $.68 pound, Kellogg's cereal 5 for $10, cantaloupe for $.38 pound, acorn squash 2 for $1, medium avocados $.69 each and Healthy Choice frozen dinners 5 for $10.

Cooking Tip

Cut up various vegetables like carrots, mushrooms, onions, peppers, broccoli, cabbage and napa cabbage. Quickly stir fry in a hot pan with a small amount of oil. I use toasted sesame. Stir frequently and finish off by adding 1/4 cup vegetable stock to the pan. Cover and steam until cooked to your preference. I served this last night with a small pork loin chop (fist sized). It was VERY tasty.

Inspiration of the Day

True happiness comes from the joy of deeds well done, the zest of creating things new. - Antoine de Saint Exupéry, 1900-1944, French Writer and Aviator

Remember that our efforts will be rewarded if we do it One Step at a Time.

Happy Trails!

FYI that's not a train at the end of the tunnel it's Gillian waiting to scare the bejeebees out of you. Thanks for the Gillian reference, Chip. I'm taking the stairs everyday just to keep up my strength so I can run from her when she comes for me.....

Where there is one trainer, there is another so that must mean that Bob is behind me and closing fast.
