Greetings Friends~
"One Step at a Time...One Step at a Time...One Step at a Time".
In case you were wondering what that sound is, that's me chanting my mantra as I huffed and puffed up two flights of stairs this morning. I've been told that this is good for me, that it will get better, be less painful, that I'll look like Jack Lalanne in no time and various other platitudes. It is easy to come up with all the reasons for doing it. Harder to actually do it. Hardest to keep doing it.
Life is like that. We know the things that we should do as well as the things we shouldn't. Why is it that the right things, the right choices, are so much harder to do, so much harder to make, than the wrong choices? If you have an answer for that, please let me know.
So, stairs are my small thing for today. I am going to take the stairs today instead of the elevator. I hope to do it again tomorrow. And the next day. But the important thing is today. The important thing is the Now. The important thing is that I give myself a "Well Done" for those right choices today. I'll tackle tomorrow's challenges tomorrow, right along with those damn stairs.
We are now a week and a half into this. I can see some changes. Maybe nothing physical yet but then I'm always the last to see that. When I say changes, I mean life changes. I mean habit changes.
I am eating breakfast and enjoying it. Go figure. I am listening to music and cleaning the house instead of watching as much TV. I am reducing my morning rush by cooking my breakfast and lunch before I go to bed.
I am drinking more water instead of diet soda. Everytime I fill up that bottle, I put a penny on my desk because the old memory sometimes fails me. Now I know how many bottles I am drinking.
If only I could figure out where these pennies are coming from.
So, as Kevin Costner said in his movie The Postman, "Things are getting better".
I hope things are getting better for you. Post a comment and tell everyone about your small things and your small changes. Or post a comment about your challenges. Remember that we are all here for each other.
Inspiration of the Day
Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved. - William Jennings Bryan, 1860-1925

Exercise Tip
Sally says that she set her treadmill up by the TV and when she watches her favorite show, she does it on the go. That's what I call healthy multi-tasking!
Remember that small changes will bring BIG results because we are doing this One Step at a Time.
Happy Trails!

Talk the talk and walk the walk. Just so you all know that I'm not always full of BS, I got home tonight and went for a 4.5 mile bike ride in the pouring rain. My legs are tired and I got soaked to my birthday suit but I never felt better!
Very proud of you.
I spent the day emotionally overeating. Skipped dinner so I could have a beer. or 3.
I don't think this is part of the plan. LaNae
