Congratulations to this week's Biggest (and only) Loser, my dedicated and motivated sister Rebecca. Way to go! She lost another 3 pounds this week which gives her a grand total so far, in Part II, of 22 pounds and a percentage of 10.38%. Isn't that amazing? Wait, it gets even better. So far since she has started her journey, she has lost a grand total of 64 pounds!! I am extremely proud of you, Kiddo.
It goes to show what can be accomplished if we work at it on a regular basis. While Rebecca has had a few "big" weeks, for the most part her loss has been slow and steady, and I don't mean that in a bad way. Not slow like me where I have week after week with a zero but slow and steady where she loses 1 to 3 pounds. It is her tenacity in continuing to push herself that has gotten her this far towards her goal. I haven't seen her since Christmas but I am sure that I will be even more impressed when I do.
So Rebecca, I want you to know this; you are now my inspiration, and I am going to do everything I can this week to see that I get back to doing what I'm supposed to. As I said yesterday, I need to concentrate on the basics, and that is what I am going to do. I hope to be with you next week in the "losers" bracket.
Thanks for reminding me that this is possible.

When you feel weak, just take one more step. Just place one foot in front of the other (just once), think of yourself walking- can you really not drag one foot in front of another, just one more step? -- Written in 2009 by Sekola Phakoe

Eating In Season - A Recipe For Life
So the first parst of my most recent lab tests came back yesterday afternoon. My cholesterol levels are decent. I won't bore you with all the numbers but I will tell you that they are the lowest they have been in 5 years (when I was last at the 200 pound mark). The best news though is that my other tests showed the level of current protein in my urine (sorry for the gross details) is almost down to nothing. This means that a year ago, I was in serious jeopardy of experiencing serious kidney damage and failure, and now I have corrected that to some very repectable "normal" levels. I am VERY happy about that.
The moral of this story is...no matter how bad off you think you are right now, by taking small steps and losing weight, One Step at a Time, you can change the path you are on.
Happy Trails!

Well Rebecca, you are amazing. Your big brother is right. You are doing what you set out to do, slow and steady. I think that is a healthy way to lose weight anyway.
Chip,
Thank you for all the kind and encouraging things you wrote about me. I am honored to be an inspiration to you, although I am proud of this journey I am on, I also continually tell myself that I have been down this road before. So my goal for now is to not look to the past and my failures at maintaining weight loss, instead I will look at now and how to make this time different.
