Happy New Year!!

Greetings Friends~

I hope that everyone had a safe and sane New Year's Eve celebration.

The family...Mrs B, Katherine and me, journeyed to Long Lake yesterday for the annual Polar Bear Plunge. It was WILD! Below are links to the pictures. I would like to thank Sally for braving the cold and rain, taking pictures for posterity. You are a very good friend.

2010 Polar Bear Plunge

The Olympian Newspaper

So now I start another year of opportunities. A time to see just what I am made of. That is a little scary because I often fail to reach the destination when I undertake a challenge. I must continue to tell myself that yesterday is over and it is today that really matters. If I only worry about today then maybe I can find the strength to make the correct choices.

I am counting on all of you to help me on my journey. Your assistance need not be anything more than your example of how it is done or a kind or encouraging word. Be an inspiration to me and to others, and by doing so, you may find out that your journey speeds quickly by.

This post starts the beginning of our comment contest. If you didn't get the details about it on my earlier post, here are the rules again.

As I mentioned, we are going to have another contest that is running simultaneously with our weight loss. Here is how it will work.
Beginning on January 1, 2010, each member and follower that makes a comment on that day's post will receive an entry into a drawing to be held at the Finale party in May. You are allowed one entry per post. I will add up the comments at the end of Part 2 and all tickets will go into my big old black top hat. The name (or number) that is drawn will entitle the winner to a $50 gift certificate to a store or restaurant of their choice OR you can have the cash. You do not need to be present to win. The more times you make a daily comment, the higher your odds of winning. If you are not currently a follower, there are directions on the left on how to sign up. If you need assistance figuring out the comment part, drop me an email or give me a call. You can comment about anything (within reason), leave diet and exercise tips, or just provide a word of wisdom.

Inspiration of the Day

Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it, we go nowhere. -- Carl Sagan

Today I have an chance to excel. A chance to be a better person than I was yesterday. Only through strength and effort can I change for the better. I wish each of you success in finding what you want and need in the New Year. Remember that all is possible if you do it One Step at a Time.

Happy Trails!

You are a brave brave soul Clown Boy. I searched for your Polar Bear pics not knowing what you would be wearing. I was "tickled" when I found you and P.S. borrowed shoes and top hat. When I turned the computer screen for my family to see they didn't laugh at your attire. They said "wow, he has lost a lot of weight" then they said "what is he wearing?" I am glad to hear of such wonderful festivities for the New Year. I am looking forward to all it will bring!

Loved the pictures and the inspiration you lent me by doing something courageous. What a reminder to everyone to sometimes step out of our comfort box and try something new and exciting. You made my New Years pale in comparison!

It was a breath taking experience!
As fool hardy and stupid as it may have been, I wouldn't trade it for the world. Mrs B, Katherine and Sally being there made it even better. I think the best part though was as I got out of the water, two little tyke's faces lite up as I bent over to let them honk my nose...or...it could have been that steaming cup of coffee that Katherine handed me after I change. Regardless, I can't wait until next New Years to do it again. Carpe diem!
