Why is My Life So Chaotic Or Organizing For Efficiency

Greetings Friends~

I want to get business out of the way first, and then I can get to today's post. Week after week there seems to be a general malaise about getting your weight to me. This is not from everyone but a select few.

Here is the new deal or new rule. Starting now, anyone that is in Part 2 for the MONEY, is required to get their weight to me by 5 pm on Monday. You can do it anytime before that and it is not necessary to wait until the last minute. If you do not get me a weight by the time I have set, and this happens three times between now and the finals in May, you will be ineligible to compete for the prize. I really hate to have to take a hard line on this but as the sign says in the utility room at work, "I am not your Mother." After all, it's not like this Monday deadline is something new. Some of us have been doing it for over 16 weeks now.

Now, onto the real business at hand.

My small step for yesterday was to come up with a way to save time. I've been racking my brain for ideas and what I finally came up with was, GET ORGANIZED. Specifically what I mean is this. I have a tendency to procrastinate and be lazy. Why do today what I can put off until tomorrow, right? The result of years of procrastination is chaos, especially around the house.

I promise not to bore you with a long dissertation on what I am going to do to achieve this but I will pledge to tell you occasionally how this is going for me and the time savings that it results in.

As I have demonstrated week after week here, the simple act of planning and making meals has resulted in a huge time savings for us. I think it is time to spread that philosophy to other aspects of the household. The hardest part about doing something like this is that it always takes an investment in time and effort at the start, in order to reap the rewards later.

Stay tuned for updates, and send me your ideas, Travelers. I can use all the help I can get.

Time and time again I've heard people rave about the Benihana restaurant chain and this dressing in particular. The reviews are remarkable. http://www.recipezaar.com/Benihana-Ginger-Salad-Dressing-1985

5 Reasons You Can't Lose Weight

So far this week I have been in the "zone", eating right and exercising. I have a hard time understanding why I can't sustain it the whole week anymore without tumbling out of control. This week I am going to do everything possible to concentrate on doing what is needed TODAY. Odd, I preach about taking things One Step at a Time yet I still keep looking at the destination thinking I have lots of time to get there. While, on the surface, there is nothing wrong with this line of thought, it gives me an "out." I can be bad today because I have all the tomorrows to make up for it.

Not this week! I am going to work hard and l look forward to seeing if it makes a difference come the weigh in on Monday morning.

Happy Trails!

Thanks, Chip, for sharing your struggles and wisdom about "LIFE" in general and not just healthy living. Like many of you, I am a fairly tidy person. If you come to my house you will not be afraid to sit on the couch for fear that it hasn't been vacuumed (ever) nor will you be afraid that washing your hands after using the toliet will give you more germs than not. I can tell you that I have a bad habit of stacking the mail on my kitchen bar and like to "store" my shoes in the livingroom rather than on the shoe rack in my closet. I grew up in a "perfect" house and I am going to spend the remainder of my time on this planet rebelling! To hell with perfection! What I mean by "perfect" is that not only was eveything clean and tidy but everything had to match. I like the "comfy lived in look" which is why those of you who know me are my friends. You have the same style. I like to live the rest of my life this way too. I can be controlling and obessive but I try very hard not to let it get out of hand. I do what needs to be done (shopping, laundry, cleaning the bathtub) but I don't beat myself up if I don't get it done in my "planned" time frame or if I skip it entirely to do something else. It's not like someone else is going to rush over and do it for me or that someone other than me is going to point out my misdirection. I don't know if my semi lazy lifestyle choice will work for you, but you can give it a try. I have not applied for the patent yet.

While perfection might be cool, I would settle for organized and clean. It sure would save a bunch of time if when I was looking for something, I didn't have to play Treasure Hunter everytime. I can deal with dirt but trying to find stuff that I know I have SOMEPLACE, is a whole different matter.
