Walking in the Rain

Greetings Friends~

I must say that the last 24 hours sure has been wet. Everywhere I go, there are large puddles of water across the road. Parking spots close to the gym or store entrances are scarcer then skinny people at an all-you-can-eat buffet.

Nonetheless, instead of laying on the couch and watching TV, I made myself get out of the house and do something useful.

True to my word, I joined Mrs B for water aerobics this morning at 9 am. I have to say that I was skeptical about the benefits of the class. Don't misunderstand, I've done water aerobics before but it just never seems like a workout. The instructor is an older obese gentleman named Charles. The idea that he's in worse shape then me wasn't a confidence builder. I have sat in the jacuzzi soaking, after a workout, and observed the class in action. It never appeared too strenuous.

Holy Crap!  That old guy (and Mrs. B) put me thru my paces. Between the two of them, I got a real workout. I'm thankful that I did it WITH her because she explained each set of movements to me so I didn't feel like a total dunce. After 60 minutes of that, I most assuredly discovered a bunch of muscles that I didn't know existed. I walked up the steps to get out of the pool, and WHAM, my muscles screamed "ouch".

I think I'll be finding time to fit this class into my schedule each week. It was a good workout and only a couple of the routines hurt my knees. The nice thing about water aerobics is that you can substitute another manuever when that happens. The point is to keep moving.

A habit cannot be tossed out the window; it must be coaxed down the stairs a step at a time. – Mark Twain, 1835-1910, American Writer and Humorist

Recipe of the Day

Mrs. B LOVES halibut. I can't wait to make this for her! Wow, this looks delicious.

I can feel my body getting stronger each day, and coupled with less cravings for food, I'm feeling like I have made some significant improvements in my wellness. I hope you Travelers are finding ways to get some exercise in this wet weather. It doesn't matter if it is vacuuming or walking at the mall, it all adds up to a healthier body if you continue to do it One Step at a Time.

Happy Trails!
