Life Can Have Its' Rewards

Greetings Friends~

My favorite part of the Biggest Loser show is when they air the makeover episode each season. Above, you will see Rebecca Meyer before, and as she appeared in the makeover show. Quite a change. Even more impressive is how she looks now. If you didn't catch her on Leno on Tuesday night, here is a link to the interview. Rebecca Leno Interview

She is now down to a svelte 157 pounds from a starting weight of 279, a loss of 122 pounds. Wow, wow, wow!

Her success is proof that people can change. I choose to use her success as inspiration for my journey. She is half (and then some) my age but I don't think that really matters. Maybe it will take me longer to lose because I have that "old" people metabolism, but I will lose, if I keep doing my small steps.

I believe that we all need some "makeover" things in our lives as we lose weight. I know that I have lost 10% so far but I don't think a FULL makeover now would be quite as impressive as a hundred pounds from now. BUT, maybe something as simple as a new shirt or a new pair of pants would be enough to make me see the change. Plus, it is a reward for work well done.

I know myself better than anyone else does and I will tell you that gratification is my thing. That's one of the many reasons I look like I do. That being said, when I drop some weight I think it is important to reward myself when I meet a pre-set goal. And, by reward, I don't mean a big, fat cheeseburger and fries. I mean something of value that will make me happy. Like a new gym bag. When I reach my next 10% loss, that's what I am going to do. Treat myself to a really cool bag with all the bells and whistles. Then each time I see that bag, it will reinforce my success.

You should each set a short term goal and think about a makeover or goal reward. Once you achieve that goal, go splurge. I know I will, because I deserve it.

The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. - Eleanor Roosevelt, 1884-1962, American Humanitarian and Former First Lady of the United States

Recipe of the Day

For those of you that enjoy salads, this recipe sounds like a winner. If you want to reduce the calorie count, substitute light dressing and/or skip the artichoke hearts and croutons. This would also be very good with leftover turkey next week. http://www.recipezaar.com/Tuna-Cobb-Salad-87605

After my post yesterday, several people contacted me who were concerned about my 7 pound Vegas gain. I appreciate your concern. I did a quick weigh in at lunch today to see if my Last Chance work outs have been successful. Rest assured, I am back on track. At this point, I have lost those 7 pounds plus a little. Thanks for your concern. I'm not quitting the journey over a small bump in the road.

Life is so much easier when I work at making it better instead of wallowing in my self pity. I know that there are things in my life that I can not control. My obesity, and my weight loss, are in my control. Concentrate on the things you can change, One Step at a Time, and your life will follow.

Happy Trails!

Well said Clown Boy. Everyone deserves a good, healthy, happy. long life. You deserve it. You also deserve support, a friendly smile, an occasional competitive co-worker and a well placed kick in the butt. For those of you that know me I am always good for the "support" and the "butt kicking". Embrace your opportunity here on this journey. You could have a knock out "after" photo too. Don't shake your head at me and roll your eyes. You'll see. You'll do it!

That's another thing that keeps me going...knowing that I can show off my before and after pictures. This make me want to work that much harder. I have a couple of great suits that cost me a fortune, and neither one fits right now. Once I get fit enough to wear them, I'll be beaming from big ear to big ear!
